In the Turkish city of Istanbul, the “Al Wakrah” and “Al Ghariyah” vessels of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces were commissioned. The vessels were manufactured by Türkiye’s Dearsan, in the presence of Major General (Naval) Khalid Nasser Al-Hajri, Deputy Commander of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces, and Mr. Aziz Yildirim, Chairman of the Board of Dearsan.
The commissioning of the vessels comes within the framework of the Halul (11) project, which includes the manufacture of two (2) missile attack craft produced by Dearsan for the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces. Production of these vessels began in 2023.
The project forms part of a broader set of initiatives to enhance the armament efficiency of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces, in line with the vision of the senior leadership of the Qatari Armed Forces to modernize its combat systems with the latest technologies and armament capabilities achieved by leading global companies specialized in naval industries.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Hanzab, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Türkiye; H.E. Dr. Naif bin Jassim Al-Abduljabbar, Consul General of the State of Qatar in Istanbul; Major General Nasser Ahmed Al-Hammadi, Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Supply and Head of the Logistics and Supply Authority of the Qatari Armed Forces; Brigadier General Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Sulaiti, Qatari Military Attaché in the Republic of Türkiye; and a number of senior officials and officers from both the Qatari and Turkish sides.
